When the storms hit and the sea battered my boat so strong with its fierce waves, my heart quickly ran through my checklists— a vibrant collection of seemingly-worthy options.

My eyes hopelessly gazing around for a lighthouse in the middle of the boisterous deep. I didn't even remember You were there. You who rocked the raging storms, in your arms, to sleep./
You who trodded underfoot the proud waves of the deep and left no traces. You who set the ball rolling and time joyously leaped into eternity's stage and scene.
How could I not remember? Oh, it came last!...
When my head was heavily decorated with dejection, I couldn't even lift it over my shoulders. My shoulders descending deep into my chest hoping to find rest in my weary heart whose cheerful thrummings have fizzled out with these cold hands of rejection wrapped around it.
My lips quickly sort for the sparkle of mockery and the vain cozy of stray beds. My eyes followed after every fleeting wind; seeking for warmth in its ice-cold lusters./
I didn't even remember it was from the warmth of Your Love that the primal flames of the sun learned heat. Your Love wraps "essence", giving it meaning.
How could I not remember?
Oh, it came last!
How the First of all things becomes the last dial! Only but in a fool's brilliance. How much of a fool have I been! How could I not have known?
How could I not have seen it?
How could I not discern?
Oh, You came last!
Summary, Elements/Analysis of the Poem.
The poem, titled "It Came Last!" explores key themes anchored upon faith, remembrance, and recognition of divine presence in times of struggle and despair. It suggests a reversal of expectations or priorities.

The phrase, "You came last," was birthed out of a realisation that something crucial was overlooked until the end.
In this poem, I also attempted to use words that paint vivid imagery to convey feelings of despair and desperate search. You'd observe that I used the words "storms hit," "darkness," and "decoration of dejection" to paint a picture of struggle and emotional turmoil.

The mood of the poem gravitates from despair and hopelessness to the dawn of realization and humility.
Hope you enjoyed it.
If you enjoyed the poem as much as I loved writing it, feel free to share it with friends and family./
